Who runs this site
I’m Dan Ilies, based in Romania. I’m responsible for the personal data described in this notice. You can contact me at dan.ilies@icloud.com.
This website presents my development work, speaking and content. It has no accounts, newsletter sign-up, advertising pixels or contact forms. Social posts use local cover images and ordinary links rather than embedded social widgets.
Visiting the website
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. To serve pages and protect the service, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and the time of a request. I use hosting and security services on the basis of my legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure website.
Visitor analytics
Where enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics helps me understand which pages are visited and how well they load. Reports include page views, referring websites, approximate country, device type, browser, operating system and performance measurements. I use these reports to improve the website.
Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies, local storage or browser fingerprinting to track visitors, and does not track individuals across websites. Your browser still connects to Cloudflare to load the analytics script and send measurements. See Cloudflare’s explanation of Web Analytics and its data collection documentation. Where personal data is processed for this limited measurement, I rely on my legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.
Contacting me
Email links open your email application. The enquiry selector prepares an email subject and outline in your browser; it does not submit information to this website. If you send an email, I receive your address, message and anything else you choose to include. I use Apple iCloud Mail to receive and manage correspondence.
I use this information to answer you, discuss your enquiry and manage any resulting relationship. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, or taking steps at your request before entering a contract where relevant. Please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is needed for our conversation.
Service providers and links
Cloudflare provides hosting, security and analytics; Apple provides my email service. They process information under their applicable terms and privacy notices. Read Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy. These providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Their documentation describes the applicable transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where relevant; Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum provides further detail.
When you follow a link to a social network or another website, that service’s own privacy rules apply. I do not sell personal data or use it for automated decisions or profiling.
How long information is kept
I keep correspondence only for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, maintain our working relationship and meet applicable legal obligations. Hosting, security and analytics information is retained according to the provider’s service settings and retention rules. You can contact me with a question about a particular message or record.
Your rights
Under applicable data protection law, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing or data portability where the conditions apply. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact dan.ilies@icloud.com to exercise your rights. I may need enough information to verify your request; I cannot identify a particular visitor from aggregate analytics reports alone.
You can complain to Romania’s data protection authority, ANSPDCP, or to the supervisory authority where you live or work. This does not prevent you from contacting me first.
Changes to this notice
I will update this page if the site’s services or data practices change. The date above shows the latest revision. See also the cookie and analytics notice.
